For nearly four decades, David Spegal was the heart of our company. When he founded Madison Tree & Landscape in 1986, he didn’t just start a business — he built a community. David believed in hard work, honesty, and treating people with respect. Those values shaped every project he touched and every relationship he formed. He often summarized the mindset that guided his life and career with a simple line many of us heard him say countless times: “God is faithful, and I’m not lazy.” It was more than a quote — it was the way he lived.

What began as a small operation quickly grew under his leadership, but David never lost sight of what mattered most: people. Whether he was meeting with a customer, mentoring a new crew member, or stepping in to help on a jobsite, he always led by example. His passion for the green industry, attention to detail, and genuine care for others became the foundation of who we are today.

David’s impact stretches far beyond the landscapes he helped create. He influenced countless employees, partners, and clients — many of whom still credit him for the opportunities, lessons, and confidence he gave them. He had a unique ability to bring out the best in people, to challenge them, and to support them every step of the way.

Even after his passing in July 2025, David’s legacy continues to guide our company. Every project we complete, every relationship we build, and every standard we uphold reflects the principles he lived by. We honor him not only in memory, but in the work we do each day.
